Meet NuVorce’s Family Law Attorney, Lesley Gwam.
Ms. Gwam is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (Class of 2011), where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in News-Editorial Journalism and an Interdisciplinary Minor in African-American Studies. While at the University of Illinois, Ms. Gwam was nominated to the Dean’s List and received the Office of Minority Student Affairs Scholastic Award for academic achievement.
After graduating from the University of Illinois, Ms. Gwam accepted an academic scholarship to DePaul University College of Law (Class of 2014), where she served as an executive board member of the Black Law Students Association and was a contributing editor to the student newspaper, “Cause of Action.” Ms. Gwam was also a participant in DePaul’s International Human Rights Practicum in San Jose, Costa Rica.
As a law student, Ms. Gwam sharpened her practice skills by serving as a law clerk for various law firms. Ms. Gwam also developed advocacy skills as a student attorney for DePaul’s Technology and Intellectual Property Clinic, where she helped small business owners secure copyright and trademark protection for their creative works.
Ms. Gwam is active in the community, having volunteered with the Neighborhood Legal Assistance Project and the Center for Disability and Law.
Ms. Gwam was admitted to the Illinois bar in May 2015. Ms. Gwam is a member of the American and Chicago Bar Associations.
